Celebrate 70 Years of the Enterprise Dinghy at the 2026 Tideway Dinghy Derby — Join the Race!
Get ready to hoist your sails and mark your calendars for Saturday, 20 June 2026, as Ranelagh Sailing Club proudly hosts the Tideway Dinghy Derby — a spectacular celebration of sailing, heritage, and community spirit on the River Thames!
This year’s event is extra special: it commemorates the 70th anniversary of the Enterprise dinghy class, designed by the legendary Jack Holt. Fittingly, the race begins just upstream of Putney Bridge — a stone’s throw from where Holt’s iconic workshop once stood. What better way to honour his legacy than by launching from the very waters that inspired his designs?
The course will take competitors downstream under ten bridges, turning opposite the Houses of Parliament, before the tide carries the fleet back to the finish line at Ranelagh SC. It’s a thrilling route that echoes the spirit of past celebrations like the Festival of London and the Queen’s Silver Jubilee.
Whether you’re an Enterprise enthusiast or sailing a different class, this is your chance to be part of a historic moment. The race is open to a maximum of 160 boats.
🛶 Entry fee: £50 per boat
🕚 Start time: After 11:00 (subject to conditions)
⏱️ Race duration: Approx. 3 hours 30 minutes
📏 Mast height restriction: Max 7.3m above waterline
All proceeds (less essential costs) will support the Scaramouche Sailing Trust, helping transform the lives of inner-city students through sailing.
